What's new?
Work has officially begun on the Thrive Health Hub at Eastgate
This week, reps from Basildon Council, Forum Contracts, and the Thrive team toured the site this week, so expect to see more activity on the site.
Lake Update @ Langdon nature discovery park
Good news from the park.. the resident swan is safe, and the lake will reopen tomorrow.
The lake was temporarily closed to allow wildlife rescue teams to treat an injury without causing further stress. Footpaths remained open throughout. Thanks to everyone for respecting the closure and keeping dogs on leads.
New family attraction opening at Eastgate
A huge new indoor activity centre, Fun Parx, is opening next week in Eastgate (inside the former Debenhams). Apparently, it’ll feature giant inflatable park & football pitches, soft play & arcade games, interactive dartboards and shuffleboards, a massive air slide and even a digger sandpit. According to Essex Live, it opens tomorrow: 11 November
Travel Update – C2C rail
If you’re having trouble buying a rail ticket with the c2c for 15th–16th November, c2c has confirmed that there has been an issue. However, they say that the problem has been identified and you should be able to purchase from Tuesday morning.
New music & comedy venue coming
Basildon town centre is getting a brand-new space: The South Essex Live Lounge & Comedy Club. Located next to Sushi Co, this new venue will offer live music from local performers, comedy & open mic nights, and a relaxed place to meet up and hang out. Watch this space for opening dates

Wendy’s opens at Festival Leisure Park in just five days — and one lucky visitor will win free Wendy’s for a whole year!
Basildon Christmas Gift Drive
Help make Christmas brighter for everyone in our community! Please donate new, unwrapped gifts for children and adults (toys, crafts, outdoor games, gift vouchers, warm accessories, toiletry sets etc) until Friday 5 December. All donations will be wrapped and delivered to local families, schools, and care homes.

The available roles are:
Rent Recovery apprentice (Closes 18th November)
Cyber Security apprentice (Closes 18th November)
Tenancy Services & Homeownership Apprentice (2 positions) – Support the delivery of high-quality housing management services, ensuring tenants and leaseholders receive timely and accurate assistance Housing Improvement
Apprentice (1 position) – Help deliver housing improvement services and ensure compliance with standards set by the Regulator of Social Housing Community Safety
Apprentice (2 positions) – Assist with partnership meetings, administrative support, and community safety projects aimed at reducing crime and anti-social behaviour. The closing date for all of the apprenticeship positions is Sunday 16th November.
